Perthshire On A Plate - the food lovers' delight
Perth Show is delighted to have been the home of the popular annual Perthshire On A Plate (POAP) food festival since 2016.
This celebration of food and drink, hosted by Perthshire Chamber of Commerce, brings together producers from across the region to showcase and sell their products as well as providing a platform for local chefs to demonstrate their culinary skills.
A host of celebrity chefs have also graced the food theatre at POAP over the years, with packed out demonstrations by favourites such as Rosemary Schrager, Jean-Christophe Novelli, Paul Rankin, Phil Vickery, Nick Nairn and Tony Singh all proving real crowd pleasers.
Celebrities also spend the day chatting with visitors, exchanging tips with local chefs and hearing from food and drink producers about their particular goods.
Thousands of visitors to Perth Show enjoy POAP's full two-day programme of back-to-back cookery demonstrations, producers' tastings and relaxing in the festival's ever-popular pop-up dining area where people can enjoy sample size portions of meals created by local restaurants.
Organised by Chamber Chief Executive Vicki Unite and journalist/PR consultant Maureen Young, the event is supported by a raft of sponsors and contributors each year.
Supported annually by Quality Meat Scotland and Perth College UHI, POAP has also enjoyed key sponsorship from many local businesses and organisations including Blackhills Specialist Dental Clinic, Perth and Kinross Council, Sodexo, Binn Group and a raft of other companies who freely offer vital support in kind.
Now firmly established as a "must attend" event on the local culinary calendar, POAP has brought a new and exciting dimension to Perth Show.
The food and drink sector has a natural crossover to the agricultural industry and, together, Perth Show and Perthshire On A Plate take visitors from field to fork, telling the entire food chain story between them. They showcase how crops and livestock are grown and reared and how the hard work of the farmers translates to the fine food and drink we all enjoy.
It's the perfect pairing!
